"Duck Hunt" is a light gun shooter video game developed and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). It was released in Japan in April 1984 and in North America in October 1985 as a launch title for the NES.
In "Duck Hunt," players use the NES Zapper, a light gun accessory, to shoot ducks that appear on the screen. The game features a single-player mode as well as a two-player mode where players take turns shooting at ducks. The objective is to shoot the required number of ducks to advance to the next round.
"Duck Hunt" is also known for its dog character, who retrieves the ducks players shoot down. The dog can become either beloved or infamous to players, depending on whether it successfully retrieves ducks or mocks the player for missing shots.
"Duck Hunt" was a commercial success and became one of the best-selling games for the NES. It is remembered as a classic and iconic game from the 8-bit era of gaming and is often cited as one of the most memorable experiences on the NES.
