Electronic Arts spells out a straightforward electronic version of Hasbro's competitive crossword game, with a couple of updated extras for gamers on-the-go. The game's "Classic" mode presents the style of play that Scrabble fans will recognize, in which players take turns spelling words by organizing randomly drawn letter tiles into words on a grid. In the game's "Speed" mode, it's a race against the clock, as players compete to earn the most points as a timer ticks down. The new "Scrabble Slam" mode presents players with a handful of letter tiles and challenges them to spell as many four-letter words as they can with them. The 2009 edition of Scrabble for PlayStation Portable also offers multiple difficulty levels and a handy "word finder" function.
