Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story is a role-playing game developed by AlphaDream and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo DS. It was released in 2009 and is the third installment in the Mario & Luigi series.
In Bowser's Inside Story, players control both Mario and Luigi as well as the main antagonist, Bowser. The story revolves around an evil entity known as Fawful, who has devised a plan to take over the Mushroom Kingdom. Bowser unwittingly inhales Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, and other characters, leading to a unique gameplay mechanic where players alternate between controlling the brothers inside Bowser's body and controlling Bowser himself in the outside world.
Inside Bowser's body, Mario and Luigi navigate through his organs and interact with various characters to unravel the mystery behind Fawful's plans. They engage in turn-based battles against enemies using a combination of timed button presses and well-timed dodges to execute powerful attacks or avoid damage.
Outside of Bowser's body, players control Bowser as he explores the Mushroom Kingdom, interacts with characters, and engages in his own battles. Bowser utilizes his brute strength and fire breath to defeat enemies and overcome obstacles in his path.
The game features a humorous storyline, clever puzzles, and a variety of mini-games and side quests. It also introduces new gameplay elements, such as the Giant Bowser battles, where players control a massive Bowser and engage in epic clashes against other colossal foes.
Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story received critical acclaim for its engaging gameplay, charming humor, and inventive mechanics. It remains a fan-favorite entry in the Mario & Luigi series and a beloved title on the Nintendo DS.
