Pokémon Blue for Game Boy is a classic role-playing game developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo. It was originally released in Japan in 1996 as Pokémon Red and Green (Red and Blue in North America), and later became one of the first Pokémon games to be localized and released internationally.
In Pokémon Blue, players assume the role of a Pokémon Trainer whose main goal is to become the Pokémon Champion by capturing, training, and battling Pokémon. The game is set in the fictional world of Kanto, and players start their journey in Pallet Town. They receive their first Pokémon from Professor Oak and set off on an adventure to collect eight Gym Badges from different Gym Leaders and challenge the Pokémon League.

Pokémon Blue is known for introducing many iconic Pokémon, including Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle. It also introduced the concept of trading Pokémon between two Game Boy devices using a link cable, which was a fundamental aspect of the Pokémon franchise's social interaction and success.
The success of Pokémon Blue, along with its counterpart Pokémon Red, sparked a global phenomenon, leading to the creation of an extensive franchise that includes video games, trading card games, an animated TV series, movies, merchandise, and more.
