Pokémon White Version 2 is a role-playing video game developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo and The Pokémon Company for the Nintendo DS handheld console. It is a direct sequel to Pokémon White and is part of the fifth generation of Pokémon games. The game was released in Japan in 2012 and internationally later that year.
Set two years after the events of Pokémon White, Pokémon White Version 2 takes place in the Unova region. Players assume the role of a new protagonist and embark on a new journey to become a Pokémon Trainer. The game features a new storyline, new areas to explore, and an expanded Pokédex.
In Pokémon White Version 2, players navigate through different towns, cities, and routes, capturing and training Pokémon creatures to build a strong team. The objective remains similar to other Pokémon games: defeat Gym Leaders, earn badges, challenge the Elite Four, and become the Champion of the Pokémon League. Along the way, players encounter new characters, including the villainous Team Plasma, who have returned with new motives.
The game introduces several new features and enhancements. Players can now explore the new areas in the Unova region, including new towns, routes, and the expansive Pokéstar Studios. The Pokédex has also been expanded, featuring a wider variety of Pokémon from previous generations in addition to the new ones introduced in Pokémon White Version 2.
Another notable feature is the Pokémon World Tournament, where players can participate in battles against previous Gym Leaders, Champions, and other notable trainers from previous Pokémon games. This tournament provides a challenging experience for players looking for competitive battles.
Like its predecessor, Pokémon White Version 2 supports wireless communication, allowing players to trade Pokémon with other players, engage in battles, and participate in various online features. The game also includes compatibility with the Pokémon Dream Radar, a downloadable application for the Nintendo 3DS system that allows players to catch rare Pokémon by using the system's augmented reality capabilities.
Pokémon White Version 2 received positive reviews from critics, praising its expanded gameplay, new features, and the ability to revisit the Unova region with a fresh story. It was well-received by fans and became a commercial success, further solidifying the popularity of the Pokémon franchise.
