Rayman 2: The Great Escape is a platform game developed by Ubisoft Montpellier and published by Ubisoft. It was initially released for the Nintendo 64 in 1999, among other platforms. The game is the sequel to the original Rayman game and follows the adventures of the titular character, Rayman, as he attempts to rescue his friends from the clutches of the evil pirates.

In Rayman 2, players control Rayman as he navigates through various levels, collecting items, defeating enemies, and solving puzzles along the way. The game features a 3D environment with a mix of platforming and action elements. Rayman can jump, glide, and use his signature ability to throw energy balls called "Lums" at enemies. Throughout the game, he gains additional abilities and power-ups that help him progress and defeat tougher enemies.

The story revolves around Rayman's quest to save the Glade of Dreams from the nefarious pirate captain, Razorbeard. Rayman's friends, known as the Teensies, have been captured by the pirates, and it's up to him to free them. Along the journey, Rayman encounters various colorful characters who assist him in his mission.

Rayman 2: The Great Escape received critical acclaim upon its release, praised for its engaging gameplay, vibrant visuals, and immersive world. It is often considered one of the best platformers on the Nintendo 64. The game's success led to multiple ports and remakes on various platforms, including PlayStation, Dreamcast, and PC.
