Terranigma is an action role-playing game developed by Quintet and published by Enix for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES). It was released in Japan in 1995 and in Europe in 1996 but did not receive an official release in North America.

Terranigma tells the story of a young boy named Ark who lives in the fictional village of Crysta. After unlocking a forbidden door in the basement of a tower, Ark inadvertently triggers a chain of events that cause the world to fall into a state of suspended animation. To restore life to the planet and revive its inhabitants, Ark embarks on a journey across the continents, facing various challenges and uncovering the secrets of the world's history.

The gameplay of Terranigma combines action-based combat with traditional role-playing elements. Players control Ark as he explores a vast and interconnected world, battling enemies in real-time combat and interacting with non-player characters to progress the story. Ark can attack with a variety of weapons and acquire special skills and magic spells as he levels up.

One of the unique aspects of Terranigma is its focus on the revival of the world itself. As Ark travels to different regions, he must restore towns, forests, and even entire continents, allowing the player to witness the world's transformation over the course of the game.

Terranigma is known for its immersive storytelling, philosophical themes, and memorable characters. The game explores concepts of life, death, and rebirth, as well as the interconnectedness of all living things. It received critical acclaim for its engaging gameplay, stunning visuals, and emotional narrative.

Despite its positive reception, Terranigma remains a relatively niche title due to its limited release outside of Japan and Europe. However, it has gained a dedicated following over the years and is often regarded as one of the hidden gems of the SNES era.
