Sega Dreamcast had a built-in web browser feature called the "Dreamkey" browser. Dreamkey allowed users to access the internet directly from their Dreamcast console using a dial-up modem connection. It was one of the earliest instances of a gaming console offering internet browsing capabilities.
With Dreamkey, users could browse websites, check emails, and even play online multiplayer games through the SegaNet service. While the browsing experience was limited compared to modern web browsers, it was still a notable feature at the time of the Dreamcast's release in 1999.
Dreamkey was later updated with Dreamkey 3.0, which improved performance and added additional features. However, due to the decline of the Dreamcast and the rise of more advanced gaming consoles with built-in internet capabilities, the Dreamcast's web browsing feature became less relevant over time.
Despite its eventual obsolescence, the Dreamcast's web browser was an innovative feature that demonstrated Sega's forward-thinking approach to console technology during its era.
